Saving Money On A Magical Disney Vacation

It’s the happiest place on earth between the smiling faces, wonderful sights, delightful smells  and the amazingly delicious Dole Whip, so what’s there to not like? A trip to Disney will not only fill a child’s heart with wonderful memories but will leave you with an excuse to feel like a kid again. These magical vacations can come with a hefty price tag so start saving!

BOOKING YOUR TRIP

Several times a year Disney offers promotions such as ‘Kids Stay and Play For Free’ allowing families to have their children enter parks for free saving them hundreds! Another favorite is ‘Free Dinning’ which allow guests to eat at specialty restaurants for free during your stay.

VACATIONING DURING OFF SEASON

Vacationing during off season will save you hundreds! The same hotel you’d get for $100 a night can become $300 during peak and holidays so choose wisely.

PURCHASE GIFT CARDS AT A DISCOUNT PRICE

While you begin to save, purchase Disney gift cards. These can be used to pay for your vacation and throughout the park. Not only will the gift cards start adding up, but it’ll prevent you from tapping into your savings. Many places especially discount bulk stores and grocery stores will have promotions if you spend $50 you can save $10 on a $50 gift card so the more you purchase the more money you’ll receive.

ON PROPERTY VS OFF PROPERTY LODGING

Staying off property can save on lodging but daily fees, and $20 theme park parking you might as well stay on property and not worry about having a shuttle which only runs a few times a day.
When you stay at a Disney Resort it includes Disney Magical Express buses taking you to and from your hotel to the parks and best of all run every 15 minutes!

CHOOSE YOUR MAGIC BAND AHEAD OF TIME

If you plan on staying on property take advantage of the free magic bands that will be coming your way. These bands you’ll wear throughout your vacation which has your room card, park tickets and if you’d like a credit card all on your waterproof band. You’re able to customize your free magic bands at booking rather than grey. It avoids having to purchase a colorful $14 band if you change your mind.

SAVE ON YOUR MEALS BY BRINGING YOUR OWN FOOD

Who says you must purchase food when on vacation? When requesting your room ask for a complementary microwave and mini fridge to use throughout your trip so you have food packed and available in the room, pool area and parks.

WANNA EAT OUT?

Disney offers various dinning plans including quick services and those including wine. For $45 per day per person you can get 1 Quick service meal, 1 Sit Down meal and two snacks daily. These plans allow you to try out all the amazing dining options Disney has to offer including our favorite character dinning rather than spending $59 per person at one meal.

ORDERING YOUR FOOD FOR HALF THE PRICE

Want to purchase food? consider a ‘kid’s meal’ which is half the size of an adult’s but comes with two small sides plus a small drink for half the price!

WHY PAY FOR WATER

Skip purchasing bottled water and swing by a food booth asking for a glass of ice water. Not only is it free and refreshing but you can do it throughout the day saving you $4 a bottle.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF DISNEY FREEBIES AND ACTIVITIES

There are free custom and personalized magic bands, celebration pins and random surprise gifts from Mickey (we received a huge sundae personally from him!) There are also many free activities including theme days, poolside movies and lots of games, arts and crafts throughout the resorts and parks to keep you staying on budget!

RECEIVE A FREE DISNEY GIFT CARD

Opting out of ‘Mousekeeping’ skipping your room being tidied will not only get you a gift card but you’re still able to request clean towels and toiletries. Be sure to ask if your hotel participates.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU VISIT DISNEY?

Some people are just born with Disney in their veins and visit several times a year. If this is the case consider purchasing an annual pass which starts at $779 a person, rather than spending $105-$120 for a one-day ticket.

When planning for your magical getaway do your research and find what options fit your family ‘s needs and budget keeping those eyes peeled for promotions and discounts. Enjoy yourself and feel like a kid again in the magical world of Disney!
